Phase One completed

Furniture move in

Phase One of construction is officially complete!  During the winter break, the maintenance team worked hard to get phase one ready for the return of staff and learners.

The facilities staff coordinated with contractors to stage, assemble, and install three tractor trailers filled with new furniture.

At the start of January 2023, the high school opened by welcoming learners and staff to the new, completed phase one areas.  Learners and staff were excited when they saw the results!

Phase One Update

Things are really starting to look different inside the high school!

Auditorium painting

Pictured above is the inside of the Auditorium.  This new paint scheme is just one step in the process of giving that area a state-of-the-art renovation.

Media Center

The newly located Media Center has also undergone changes.  Metal roof decking has been installed, along with the upper windows.

New duct work has been installed through phase one, doors and frames have been painted, new plumbing has been installed, the locker rooms have been demolished, new masonry is seen throughout the building, along with so many other tasks; some large, some small.

Recently, Brandon Sauder from the Technology Department, flew his drone over the construction site.  The image below offers a good look at the changes that have been made during the renovation.

If you look close, you can even spot the two chillers sitting in place on the roof.  From a previous blog post, the chillers are what will supply the building with air conditioning.

Chiller One staged and ready for installation

Exciting things are starting to take shape with the high school renovation.  One of the highlights is the arrival of the chillers.

Before the renovation, not every part of the high school had air conditioning.  With the addition of chillers, the entire building will not have air conditioning.  That will be a welcome change for those working in the building!

The chillers (two total) will reside on the roof of the building.

Look inside the auditorium

As we continue with Phase One, it may look like progress is slow, but things are really moving along.  Old interior walls have been removed, new walls have been constructed, new wall surfaces are being installed, finishes and furniture are being selected, and the auditorium is undergoing a transformation.

The auditorium is a common place that everyone who attended Manheim Central (past and present) can assosicate a memory with.  For some, their time spent in this auditorium was a defining moment in their life.  I wanted to share what it looks like now.  Stay tuned, because the transformation will be lovely.

Phase One Underway

Posted by Alexis Baker on 8/20/2021 8:00:00 AM

We've had a busy summer at the high school!  In June, the district offically started the high school renovation project with phase one.  During this phase, mobile classrooms were set up, hallways were demoed, part of the roof was removed, and the lobby was torn down.  The contractors have been working hard to keep this huge project on schedule.

In a week, we welcome students, staff, and parents back to the building.  The facilities crew has been working diligently to get the student and staff portion of the building and mobile classrooms cleaned and disinfected and ready for school use.

It's a very exciting time to be a Baron!  We look forward to the progress we are going to make and cannot wait to see this project come into fruition on schedule.
