Staff Recognition

The Teacher and Support Staff Recognition Program are conducted each year. These programs are designed to honor outstanding teachers and support staff in the district. The Champion of Children Award is designed to honor individuals involved in the school district who are neither teachers nor support staff. A brief explanation of each program is presented below. All individuals selected for the Teacher or Support Staff of the Year and Champion of Children are recognized at the awards program at the end of the school year.

Teacher Recognition Program

The purpose of the Manheim Central Teacher Recognition Program is to recognize and reward those teachers who consistently demonstrate excellence in their classroom teaching. The program shall serve to honor those teachers who acknowledge and utilize teaching methods and strategies which are proven to be effective and those who advance the goals and objectives of the school district. Teachers recognized through this program will be those who have demonstrated a commitment to the teaching profession and to enhancing the status of the profession. Three teachers will be selected for this honor each year. Each will receive the equivalent of $500 to be used to pay for expenses at professional conferences, equipment for use in the instructional program, or instructional supplies.

Support Staff Recognition Program

The purpose of the Manheim Central Support Staff Recognition Program is to recognize and reward those support staff that consistently demonstrate excellence. The program shall serve to honor those support staff that go the extra mile for Manheim Central and show added concern in accomplishing the goals and objectives of the school district. Support staff recognized through this program will be those who have demonstrated a commitment to their job and to enhancing the status of the school where they work. Two support staff members will be selected for this honor each year.

Champion of Children Award

The purpose of the Champion of Children Award is to recognize those individuals, who are neither teachers nor support staff members, who continually embrace the Mission Statement of the Manheim Central School District. The program shall serve to honor those who have gone above and beyond the “normal call of duty” to positively influence a child’s academic or social development, or who have demonstrated a continued concern about the development of the children of the district. Individuals nominated for this position may be, for example, parent volunteers, bus drivers, crossing guards or community members.
