About the Superintendent of Schools

  • Peter J. Aiken, Ed.D.

I began my teaching career in Norfolk, VA. as a 6th grade reading teacher (2000-01). From there, I moved back to Pittsburgh, where I was born and raised (Oakmont, PA).

I taught high school English at Mars Area School District (2001-2007). I also served as the Department Chair for the District. As well, I had the pleasure of coaching soccer, basketball, and softball.

In 2007, I became the Assistant Principal at Pequea Valley High School. In January of 2010, I became the Principal of Conrad Weiser Middle School.

My Manheim journey began in May, 2014 when I was afforded the opportunity to become the Assistant Superintendent. Finally, on June 30th, 2016, I became the Superintendent of Schools.

My travels have taught me many things- one thing I know for sure- Manheim is a pretty special place. Of all the Districts I have worked, in terms of school spirit and pride, none have compared to MC. I feel tremendously blessed to be a Baron- and to serve our students, staff, and community at large.

My wife and I have four children. Being a husband and dad does not offer me much free time. Nonetheless, I enjoy reading- running, and golfing. We love to cheer on all of the Pittsburgh sports teams- City of Champions!

I vehemently believe in the partnership of school and home. If I can be of assistance in any way, please be in touch. The success of your child is our goal. Let’s work together to create our next generation of leaders, thinkers, and doers.

Proud to Be a Baron- Pete
