Dr. Aiken Update - Return to Learn - 7-28-2020

Good day Baron Nation! I trust this email finds you well. I have learned from my last communication to leave all Pittsburgh sport references out of my emails. Maybe the most painful or true comment I received: Pirate Fans have been socially distancing for years. In true Metallica form, Sad but True.

At last night’s Board Meeting, our Health & Safety Plan was approved. Part and parcel of this plan that was also approved was our Return to Learn Plan.

Simply put, our vision/mission for putting this plan together was to try to find something that would work for everyone. (As we worked through it, I commonly referred to it as our Burger King Plan; Your Way, Right Away.) I believe each of you will find a plan that works best for your family…and for those considering a Cyber Charter option, I am respectfully pleading with you to give us a chance- hold us accountable- and keep your kids as part of Baron Nation. We are committed to Never Stop Improving. We are not perfect…but we are striving to Beat Yesterday. I appreciate your consideration.

Here is a document describing each option – and it also provides a side-by-side comparison with each of your options: Return to Learn Comparison of Options

Also, here are links to videos describing our Return to Learn Plan for Grades K-6…and for Grades 7-12:

Finally, and here is perhaps the most critical part of this email: we are asking you to commit to an option (for each of your kids)- and to complete the form notifying us of your intent. The form is due by Sunday, August, 2nd- at 6 PM.

I know this is a lot to digest. If you have questions, please be in touch with your child’s building principal. They can get you squared away.

If I can be of assistance in anyway, please don’t hesitate to be in touch. Always, Proud to be a Baron- pja

In honor of last night’s approval…and with a renewed focus on returning to school in a little over a month, now is a great time for us to Come Together as a District and Community at large. I hope you enjoy…
